Andrea Dismont Trott

Andrea is a breast cancer survivor who was born and raised in Bermuda. Realising that life is short and fleeting, she decided to have a "do over" by living life more fully and creatively. She moved to New Zealand after an exploratory trip in 2015 and settled in the the Nelson Tasman region on a registered carbon forest.

She is certified as a Mindfulness Meditation Teacher after completing an intensive 2 year professional training program under Dr Jack Kornfield of Spirit Rock Retreat Centre and Dr Tara Brach of Insight Meditation, D.C. She is currently studying Trauma Informed Mindfulness under David Treleaven, and is undergoing her Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra teacher training in the Bihar Yoga Tradition.

Her interests include helping others lead a joyful life through stress reduction techniques including self-regulation, joy, compassion, loving kindness and equanimity. She is interested in celebrating the right to rest and restore and opposes sleep shaming. She is an avid reader and researcher. Topics she is exploring include the African Diaspora and cultural reclamation, dealing with eco-trauma, & outdoor mindfulness.

Her background includes decades in the Bermuda & Santa Fe tourism industry as an operator of small lodging properties and vacation rentals. Her past life also includes working in the international reinsurance sector as an underwriting officer, corporate communications director and auditor. She holds multiple degrees and professional qualifications including a M.S. in Professional Accounting, and an M.A. in British Commonwealth Studies. She is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
